Protection of large carnivores

Distribution

In Slovakia wolves inhabit nearly all foothills of the northern and central part of the country.

No regular population monitoring has been conducted, yet according to the most recent report on wolf conservation status in Slovakia prepared by the European Commission, the wolf population size is estimated at 302-610 individuals (Anonymous, 2012b).
