Protection of large carnivores

Diet

The studies on lynx’s feeding behavior indicate that roe deer constitutes the basic portion of their diet (Molinari-Jobin et al. 2002).

Lynx’s diet depends mainly on the place and prey availability. Occasionally lynxes hunt other carnivores. Among their prey are hares, birds, wild boars and small mammals (Schmidt et al. 2008). Lynxes are solitary hunters and they search for pray individually. Hunting success depends mainly on habitat conditions. After they catch their prey, lynxes’ activity drops and they hide with their catch.
